History of the Medical Genetics Department
The Department of Medical Genetics was established in 2007 under the directive of the University Presidency. Located on the sixth floor of the School of Medicine, the department comprises 10 faculty members, including 8 full professors and 2 associate professors. It features both a Molecular Genetics laboratory and a Cytogenetics laboratory.
Since 2009, the department has been admitting students at both the Master’s and Ph.D. levels and actively collaborates with medical and dental students on their theses. To date, the department has successfully graduated 50 Ph.D. students and 80 Master’s students. Furthermore, the presence of the university’s Genomic Research Center, which provides scientific, technical, and financial support, has significantly facilitated and enhanced the department’s educational and research activities
